Fragen

Whilst ISDN and primary multiplex offered no possibility of encryption whatsoever, easybell customers can make use of this option thanks to Voice-over-IP technology. The two main protocols used for this are Secure Real-Time Transport Protocol (SRTP) and Transport Layer Security (TLS).

Provided that all end devices involved are correctly configured and support these protocols, the connection to our servers is encrypted and protected against unauthorised eavesdropping. Our data centre is ISO 27001 certified and, of course, easybell complies with the strict European and national telecommunications regulations.

Please note, however, that this only applies to calls within our network. For you, this means that your business calls via easybell or calls to other easybell subscribers can be encrypted. Calls to other networks, however, are only accepted unencrypted by the respective operator.

In our Help Centre, you will find numerous guides and tips on how to set up SRTP and TLS.

Further information can be found under “How to encrypt your calls”.

The right upload speed is often crucial for trouble-free calls via Voice-over-IP. In this article, you will learn how much bandwidth is required per voice channel, why a security buffer is important and how to calculate the requirements for multiple parallel calls.

For calls to the public telephone network, you should plan for at least 80 kbit/s per voice channel - regardless of whether you are using an IP phone, a local telephone system or a cloud PBX.

The actual bandwidth may vary depending on the codec, encryption and network quality. You should therefore plan for 20-30% additional bandwidth to compensate for fluctuations and parallel data transmissions.

Practical example: For 10 simultaneous VoIP calls, you need at least 1 Mbit/s upload speed.

Our VoIP offer can be used worldwide - from any Internet connection that meets these requirements.

Extra tip: Your broadband connection is not charged for internal calls via a local telephone system.

Information about which telephone systems are suitable for your SIP Trunk.

All IP-PBXes which can cope with SIP, the technologies of SIP-DDI and CLIP no screening and Codec g.711 are suitable for easybell Business VOICE.  For HD calling, g.722 is necessary.

There are lots of different IP-PBXes. Please make sure, you take one for your needs. Therefore, you have to think about the needed features. A FRITZ!Box is often fine for SIP trunking, because it is able to deal with up to 20 extensions. To make sure you'll find the best suiting solution, we offer an interactive comparisson of PBXes on our website (in German).

To get the full functionality, we recommend you to use one of our certified IP-PBXes. We made extensive tests in cooperation with the PBXes’ producers to guarantee a full compatibility with our SIP trunks.

You can find different guidances to set up our certified PBXes in our help center.

Many companies already have a phone system. In this article, you can use a simple question to determine whether you can continue using your phone system with Easybell.

When it comes to modern IP telephony, companies typically rely on Voice over IP (VoIP) with SIP Trunks. But to take full advantage of a SIP Trunk, you need a phone system that manages extensions and routes calls.

If you want to continue using an existing phone system, the key question is whether the system is compatible with Voice over IP or SIP—or whether it can be upgraded to support these technologies.

Alternatively, every Easybell SIP Trunk includes a free Cloud PBX with five seats.

Here you can find out what extracted DDIs are and how you can make use of them.

This business feature, also known as “virtual DDIs”, allows individual extensions to be moved to the cloud quickly and easily.

Extracted DDIs are independent SIP accounts with individual OfficeDesk accesses. This allows you to flexibly integrate external staff on business trips, working from home or in other branches.

They can then not only manage their own extension, but also use telephone functions such as Web2Fax, Fax2Mail or conference rooms.

If you’d like to try it yourself, read our guide “Setting up extracted extensions”.

A failure in your IP phone system can quickly become a problem: customers can’t reach you, and internal communication grinds to a halt. With simple fallback routing, you’ll remain reachable even during outages. Here’s how it works.

To ensure that your IP phone system works reliably, certain basic requirements must be met—whether it runs in the cloud or is hosted on-premises:

  • Power supply: A phone system won’t work without power.
  • Stable network: The network infrastructure must function flawlessly to ensure data packets are transmitted correctly.
  • Internet connection: VoIP telephony requires an active internet connection.
  • Functioning hardware: All devices, such as routers, switches, and phones, must be working properly.
  • Reliable phone provider: Of course, your phone provider and, if applicable, the host of your virtual phone system must also be reachable.
Easybell guarantees 99.99% availability of our SIP servers.

To ensure you’re reachable in an emergency, a simple contingency plan helps: Set up fallback routing—ideally before an emergency occurs.
